Everybody Was Haiku Writing

Haiku is an old, traditional form of Japanese poetry. A Haiku is a 3-line poem, written in a strict metric pattern of 5, 7, and 5 syllables, respectively. Since the poem is limited to 3 lines, with each line remaining somewhat individual while pertaining to the other two, they are both intriguing to read and difficult to write. I would like to share a few I have written over the years.

No, You Want 6601

Ring, ring, ring, hello…?

Uh, yeah, is this Dominoes?

Sorry, wrong number.

A Flower Blooms

I have a secret.

I’m a homosexual…

No, I’m just kidding.

Symmetrizing Ascension

Two, four, six, eight, ten,

Twelve, fourteen, sixteen, eighteen,

Twenty, twenty-two…

Untitled

My cat has bad breath,

It kind of smells like cat food.

She should brush often.

The Linguist

Perspicacity

Great word to start this poem,

The hell does it mean?

Far-sighted Love

Adorn from afar,

Approaching yields elegance.

Oh wait, that’s a guy.

A Buzz With Life

The worker gathers,

The Queen completes life’s circle,

My rock hits the hive.

Youthful Inquisition

A son asks his dad,

Hey, daddy, why does it rain?

Cause you made God cry.

Words cannot describe how my bowels were moved by your glowing words of love and life. I will remember this day for evermore.
